The Vanishing  (1988) aka Spoorloos, directed by George Sluizer, StudioCanal remaster, encoded in 10 bit HEVC with AAC sound, including original Dutch theatrical stereo, and English and German subtitles. Note : I've kind of held off on uploading this film, even though I encoded it a while ago, because I'd need to watch it again, and it's one of the most terrifyingly depressing films I've ever seen, one of the few that come up to the level of Martyrs, The Road, or Cure in that regard, but with a much more subtle touch, almost no visible violence at all. The final twist is one of the most devastating reveals I've ever experienced from a film. Rex and Saskia are traveling together on vacation in France when they take a break at a rest stop. Saskia goes to buy drinks, but doesn't come back, and Rex spends the whole day and the whole night at the gas station waiting for her. There's never a trace of her found, and a few years later, Rex is still obsessed with finding out what happened to her. The person responsible, though, is not who or what you might think. This StudioCanal remaster, based on the 2019 restoration, is pretty decent, but could have done with better grain management. Stereo sound is fine, too bad there are really no extras or anything.
